Story from Juan Ricardo Gómez, CCNet coach in Colombia and professor at Javeriana University.
At the Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia, the course “Biodiversity’s Use Systems” (mandatory for students obtaining their Masters of Conservation) teaches students to identify a local problem involving direct use of a biodiversity attribute. The course also presents a new approach to using biodiversity that will maintain the resource, the use, and the benefits from that particular use. All aspects of the course use the Open Standards methodology and techniques learned from Coach Training workshops.
Through this course, we’re developing young conservation professionals that have a more complete view of the complexity involved in conservation projects and can use the Open Standards approach.
